Next generation Google
(Google “Caffeine” update)

Next generation Google<br>(Google “Caffeine” update)

Seen by many as Google's response to Microsoft's search engine 'Bing', the update promises very little change to the casual user, but big changes 'under the hood'.

Google have released a preview version of the new site and are inviting feedback from developers, they claim that the improvements increase the number of pages in their index and can search those pages quicker, but that the new search engine shouldn't alter the search results a great deal.

Unfortunately the preview seems to lack the UK version of results so it's difficult to see what changes we'll see when the update eventually goes live.

It's not unusual for a site to gain most of it's traffic from Google searches, so we will obviously be following this update closely!

Search engine optimisation (SEO) is a fluid exercise as the search engines modify and tune their algorithms, but as long as you stay away from devious tactics that artificially boost your rankings then any changes in your site's rankings should be minimised.
